St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Diego Padres placed first baseman Yonder Alonso on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained right forearm.

Alonso left Tuesday's game against Colorado with the injury and underwent two MRIs before being placed on the DL.

The 27-year-old previously missed 30 games with tendinitis in his right wrist before returning to the lineup on July 26.

Alonso is hitting .240 with seven home runs and 27 RBI across 84 games this season.

San Diego recalled infielder Jace Peterson from Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move. The rookie appeared in 25 games for the Padres earlier this season.
