Indianapolis, IN ( - The Indiana Pacers announced Friday that forward Paul George has passed the NBA's concussion protocol and is expected to play in Game 3 of the team's Eastern Conference finals series with the Miami Heat.

George was injured by a knee to the back of his head from the Heat's Dwyane Wade with 6:50 remaining in Miami's 87-83 win in Tuesday's Game 2, which evened the series at 1-1. The Pacers' consulting neurologist diagnosed the All-Star with a concussion the following day following a battery of tests and evaluation.

The 2013 NBA Most Improved Player told reporters Friday that had has been symptom-free for the last two days and was later cleared by the team's medical staff.

George will participate in Saturday's shootaround and barring any complications, will take part when Game 3 takes place in Miami later that night.

The Pacers' doctors did not initially suspect that George had suffered a concussion because he immediately denied all symptoms of dizziness, nausea, and issues with vision. It was not until after the game that George stated that he blacked out on the play.
