Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - The Edmonton Oilers appointed Bill Scott as their assistant general manager on Monday.

The 33-year-old Scott spent the last four seasons as the general manager of Edmonton's American Hockey League affiliate in Oklahoma City and replaces Ricky Olczyk, who was offered a position within the organization, but respectfully declined the offer.

"I'd like to thank Ricky for his seven years of service with the Oilers organization and wish him nothing but the best during this transition period and with future endeavors," Edmonton GM Craig MacTavish said. "I would like to welcome Bill and his family to Edmonton. Bill has done an exceptional job managing all facets of the Barons day to day operations and has played a large part in their success over the past four years."

Scott also served as the director of hockey operations with the AHL for four seasons, where his duties included creation of league schedule and assisting in determining player fines and suspension, among other things.
