New York, NY ( - A pair of goaltenders -- Los Angeles Kings backstop Martin Jones and Antti Raanta from the Chicago Blackhawks -- have been named co-recipients of the NHL's top rookie honors for the month of December.

Jones began his career with eight straight victories, tying the NHL record set by Bob Froese of the Philadelphia Flyers in January of 1983. He also became the first rookie to allow two or fewer goals in each of his first eight career starts since Frank Brimsek of the Bruins in 1938-39.

The 23-year-old holds an 8-3-0 record, 1.41 goals-against average and three shutouts over 11 appearances for the Kings this season.

Raanta has helped the defending Stanley Cup champions remain atop the Central Division thanks to allowing two or fewer scores in 10 of his 12 December starts, and picked up his first career shutout on Dec. 26 against LA.

The 24-year-old Finn has gone 10-1-3 with a 2.21 GAA and .913 save percentage in 15 contests this season.

Dallas Stars forward Valeri Nichushkin, Philadelphia Flyers winger Michael Raffl and Vancouver Canucks goaltender Eddie Lack also received consideration.
