Winnipeg, MB (SportsNetwork.com) - Winnipeg Jets center Jim Slater underwent hip surgery Thursday.

The Jets released a statement Friday morning and said the procedure performed in New York was a success.

"Jim Slater underwent successful hip labrum surgery yesterday to repair an issue that was diagnosed following the season," said Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff in a statement. "It is anticipated Jim will make a full recovery in time for training camp in September."

Slater appeared in 27 games for the Jets last season and posted a goal with one assist.

The 31-year-old Michigan native has spent his entire career with the Jets/Thrashers organization since being a first-round pick in the 2002 draft and has 62 goals with 63 assists for 125 points in 502 NHL games.
