Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders placed defenseman Travis Hamonic on injured reserve and recalled defenseman Matt Donovan from Bridgeport of the American Hockey League on Tuesday.

Hamonic already has missed eight games with a concussion he suffered on Jan. 12 against Dallas. The 23-year-old has one goal and eight assists in 47 games this season.

Donovan rejoins the Islanders a day after being sent down to clear a roster spot for Lubomir Visnovsky, who returned from a three-month absence because of a concussion to play in Monday's 6-3 home loss to the Boston Bruins.
