At the 4A Regional track meet in San Antonio, West 4x100M relay advanced to the finals, while the Warriors Todd Mickey runs in the 1600M run Saturday after taking fourth in the 3200M run Friday. East's Kasey Heitzmann took third in the pole vault, that may be good enough for her to make it to state. She and Lauren Rangnow have made the 100M hurdles finals, and Heitzmann made the 300M hurdles finals, as did the Titans' 4x200M relay.
West girls' 4x100M (third best time) and 4x200M (second best time) relays made Saturday's finals. Mikayla Roell of the Warriors has the fourth best time in the 100M going into the finals, while Saige McLarty placed fifth in high jump at 5-2 and Amy Daniel was fifth in triple jump at 35-10.
At the TAPPS 4A Regional meet in Houston, Kristen Fisher of St. Joseph won the triple jump for the second straight year at 36-4, while the Flyers Doug Wall won high jump at 5-10. St. Joe state qualifiers also include Abigain Gwosdz, who took third in pole vault; Kristi Hempel, fourth in high jump, and Alex Ferell, third in pole vault at 11-6.
At the 3A Regionals in Kingsville, two Yoakum athletes took gold. Celine Markert won the shot put and Tre'Vontae Hights won the long jump.
