East baseball picked up its first two wins of the season Thursday at the Cuero tournament. The Titans first beat La Vernia, 6-1. Adrian Gonzalez tossed a five-hitter and hit a solo homer. East then beat Lexington, 10-0. The Titans' Eli Villa tossed a one-hitter. The Titans got home runs from Jonathan Ortegan and Mason Tipton, who also two RBI's. Ortega and Aaron Trevino each had three hits and an RBI. The Titans next play at the Shiner Starplex Friday at 2:00 p.m. vs. Beeville.
West baseball got its first win of the season Thursday at the Columbus tournament. The Warriors first lost to Needville, 2-1. Coy McLarty drove in the West run. The Warriors then outslugged Schulenburg, 17-15, in ten innings. Parker Tadlock got the win, Tyler Willemin got the save and went 3-for-5 with an RBI. Grant McDaniel of West went 4-for-6 with two RBI's. West next plays there Saturday at noon.
St. Joe baseball got its first win of the season Thursday at the Gonzales tournament. The Flyers first beat the host team, 11-6. Jacob Vasquez got the win and Michael Brawner had two RBI's for the Flyers. St. Joe then lost to Wimberley, 11-1, in five innings. Brawner was the losing pitcher, Tyler Stocker drove in the St. Joe run, and ten of the 11 runs the Flyers gave up were unearned. The Flyers next play in the tournament vs. Elgin Friday at 2:30 p.m.
