Durant, Anthony named NBA Players of the Month

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony were named the NBA's Players of the Month for January on Friday.

Durant, who won the Western Conference award for the third month in a row, led the NBA in scoring at 35.9 ppg -- including a career-high 54 point performance on Jan. 17. Durant reached 20 points in all 17 of OKC's games, 30 points 13 times and eclipsed 40 points five times.

Anthony, meanwhile, led the Eastern Conference in scoring with 28.7 ppg, highlighted with a Madison Square Garden single-game record 62-point performance. Anthony led the Knicks to a 10-6 record in January, including a four-game winning streak to end the month.

Other nominees for the awards were Brooklyn's Joe Johnson, Charlotte's Al Jefferson, Houston's Terrence Jones, Indiana's Paul George and Lance Stephenson, LA Clippers' Blake Griffin, Memphis' Mike Conley, Miami's LeBron James, Minnesota's Kevin Love and Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge.
