Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins on Tuesday signed forward Jay Pandolfo to a one-year, two-way contract and then placed him on waivers.

The move is intended to have the veteran, who has yet to see game action this season, spend some time in the minors to work on conditioning.

Pandolfo had one goal and two assists in 62 games for the Islanders last season.

The 38-year-old is a veteran of 881 career NHL games with the Devils and Islanders, having recorded 100 goals, 126 assists and 162 penalty minutes. In 131 career playoff games (all with the Devils), Pandolfo has tallied 11 goals and 22 assists for 33 points.

A two-time Stanley Cup champion, having won with the Devils in both 2000 and 2003, Pandolfo will need to clear waivers before being added to the roster.
