Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - New Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine named Kyle Shanahan the team's next offensive coordinator.

The announcement was officially made Monday, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Shanahan signed a three-year deal.

Shanahan has been an offensive coordinator the past six years in the NFL, the last four with the Washington Redskins under his father, Mike.

The Redskins regressed offensively last season as second-year quarterback Robert Griffin III struggled following offseason knee surgery, and both Mike and Kyle Shanahan were let go.

The Browns finished 27th in points per game (19.3) last season despite having four players selected to the Pro Bowl under offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

The Shanahan hiring completes an overhaul of Cleveland's coaching staff, as Pettine, the Bills' defensive coordinator last season, named former Buffalo linebackers coach Jim O'Neil as the Browns' defensive coordinator last week.
