Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver police have issued an arrest warrant for Broncos safety T.J. Ward concerning an incident earlier this month at a city nightclub.
Police department spokesman Sonny Jackson told NFL.com that Ward was given a summons for simple assault and disturbing the peace following an altercation at Centerfold, a Denver strip club, on May 9. Jackson said the warrant was issued because Ward had yet to turn himself into police.
Both charges are misdemeanors.
"We have been aware of this issue and will continue to review all of the facts," said the Broncos in a statement released Thursday.
Ward, a Pro Bowl selection with Cleveland this past season, was signed to a four-year, $23 million contract by the Broncos in March after spending his first four years with the Browns.
The 27-year-old tallied 112 tackles, two interceptions and 1 1/2 sacks while starting all 16 games in 2013.
