West's Jasmene Porter and John Garcia will become the first two VISD wrestlers to ever win State medals. Porter, at 215 pounds, pinned Bella Wilson of Pampa in the quarters and will face Jesse Grubbs of Azle in the semifinals. Garcia, at 120 pounds, beat Will Harcrow of McKinney North by pin, then knocked off Quinn Redmond of Frisco Lone Star by a 9-7 decision. Austin Supak of West, at 128 pounds, lost in round two by technical fall to Allison Alvarez of El Paso Hanks. Supak then beat Destiny Wilbert of Humble Summer Creek by pin. Supak will wrestle Friday in the consolation semifinals vs. Raven Norris of Saginaw. The Warriors' Keirsten Reed, at 119 pounds, pinned McKenzie Schlid of Waller, then was eliminated by losing to Andrea Elizondo of Fort Worth Trimble Tech, 12-2. The Warriors' Lorraina Moses, at 148 pounds, pinned Kaitlyn Danford of Huntsville, then was eliminated by losing to Avery Sims of Dallas Kimball by pin. East's Josh Morales, at 138 pounds, lost to Sean Roche of Frisco Wakeland by pin, then was eliminated by losing to Dale Battle of Humble Summer Creek when Morales hurt his knee. The State 4A semifinals are Friday at the Delco Center in Austin, the boys starting at 2:30, the girls at 4:15.
