UHV Women's Golf Makes National Poll

Fresh off a season-opening win at their own UHV Fall Golf
Classic, the University of Houston-Victoria women’s golf team earned their
first top-10 ranking in the Golfstat Relative Head-to-Head Rankings this week.


The Jaguars were ranked No. 8 in the NAIA rankings, their
first top-10 ranking in the four years of the program.


William Woods was ranked No. 1, followed by Oklahoma City
at No. 2, SCAD-Savannah at No. 3 and the University of Cumberland at No. 4.
Association of Independent Institution Conference foe California State-San
Marcos rounded out the top five at No. 5.


The Jaguars also had two players ranked in the top 20 in
the individual statistical rankings. Rebecca Benchot was ranked No. 2 with a
72.00 scoring average and Brooke Brasseaux was tied for No. 17 with a 75.50
scoring average. Teammate Caitlin Swisher was tied for No. 45 with a 78.00
scoring average.


The Jaguars opened the season this week with a
first-place finish at the UHV Fall Golf Classic after posting a record 613
tournament score. The Jaguars opened the tournament with a record opening round
613 score and then eclipsed that mark with a closing round 300.


The UHV women will be back in action on Monday and
Tuesday when they will try to defend their title at the Houston St. Thomas
Talamonti Invitational at the Sienna Plantation Golf Club in Missouri City.
