UHV Softball Conference Tourney

Defending conference champion California State
University-San Marcos was named the top seed for the 2013 Association
of Independent Institutions Conference Softball Championships hosted by the University of Houston-Victoria at the Victoria Youth Sports Complex.


Host UHV will be the tournaments’ second seed, followed
by the University of British Columbia at No. 3, Ashford University at No. 4 and
LSU-Alexandria at No. 5.


The tournament is scheduled for May 1-3 at the Victoria
Youth Sports Complex with three games scheduled each day.


The top two teams from the tournament will earn automatic
berths to the NAIA Nationals Opening Round Tournament on May 13-15 at sites
still to be determined. The NAIA National Championships Tournament will be held
May 24-30 at the South Commons Softball Complex in Columbus, Ga.


CSUSM is currently 40-8 on the year and ranked No. 3 in
the nation, while UHV and UBC are both 23-19, with Ashford at 20-20 and LSU-A
at 15-23.


Ashford and LSUA will meet in the tournament’s first game
on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with UHV and UBC meeting at 1:30 p.m. The Ashford-LSUA
winner will meet CSUSM at 4 p.m. All times are central times.
