Calhoun Relays

Area high school track action from the Calhoun relays Thursday.

Here are some of the highlights:

Boys: Lamar with 102, and Calhoun 101
Girls: Gregory-Portland 112, East 80

Girls hundred meter hurdles, first heat, Abby Sheppard from Cuero, last year's 300 meter hurdles 3A state champ, winning this race and later the 300 and she anchored the Lady Gobblers' winning 16 hundred meter relay.

Girls 400 meter relay, first heat, this one goes to Bay City, with West taking second and East, with Ramaya Dean anchoring, in third.

Titan girls took second in the 1600 meter relay. East girls second overall behind Gregory-Portland.

Boys 400 meter relay, first heat, Lamar Consolidated, running away with it, followed by West, East and Calhoun. Lamar won the boys title by a point over Calhoun.

Down the stretch of the boys 800 meter run, Antonio Perez of El Campo is the winner.
