The West boys won their first ever 30-4A team track and field championship Thursday at Gregory-Portland. The Warriors took first in the 4x100 (Ty Fromme, Rashod Jackson, Eric Castillo, and Gamar Girdy) and 4x200 meter relays (Jacob Armstrong, Austin Greene, Qualian Bryant, Gamar Girdy); Gamar Girdy won the 100 meter dash, and Todd Mickey won the 1600 meter run. Rashod Jackson of West took second in the 100 meter dash and was third in the 200 meter run. Lupe Vega took second in the 800 meter run and Qualian Bryant finished third in the 100 meters.
The East boys took third, with Joseph White winning the 300 meter hurdles with a 39.2 time, and their 4x400 meter relay (Quinton Pena, Joseph White, Jordyn Montgomery and Anton Franklin) won with a 3:29.6 time.
The East girls took second in the 30-4A team standings for the second straight year. The Titans Lauren Rangnow won the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 15.08.
The West girls took third in the team standings. The Warriors won the following district events Thursday: 4x100 meter relay (Mikayla Roell, Kerrah Henneke, Bailey Daniel, Saige McLarty) 49.75; Mikayla Roell in the 100 meter dash at 12.01; 4x200 meter relay (Mikayla Roell, Silvey Estrada, Mercedes Ellison, Saige McLarty) 1:45; Bailey Daniels in the 300 meter hurdles with a 47.4 time; and Saige McLarty in the 200 meter run with a 26.87 time.
