We have athletes of the week who make the case for the Shiner defense.
Was it more impressive that the Shiner football program beat the defending state champions Mason, the same team that knocked them out of the playoff the last two years or was it more impressive in the style they did it. Anytime you hold the defending state champions, a team that averages 40 points a night to three points you can’t just credit one person, you credit the whole defensive squad.
For Shiner, the defensive squad has a different mindset then the offensive. They might not get the glamor of being in the end zone, but they take pride in controlling the game.
For the players on Shiners defensive, they consider themselves not just a different bread of football players but they also consider themselves part of a unique fraternity.
