Water Recreation
Who wants a water park? Wednesday night the city of Victoria wants your help in planning its fun future.
When it comes to water fun there's not a whole lot in the area, so the city of Victoria is looking to the public for ways to change it through a forum being held Thursday. The city of Victoria has expanded in so many ways but one way it has not grown is in the area of water recreation. The city recognizes the need for growth and that's why they will be holding a public forum this Thursday. Doug Cochran with Parks and Recreation said the goal of the forum is to get the public’s opinion on changes and development opportunities. In addition to public feedback this forum will also serve as educational opportunity. Cochran said they are bringing in consultants who will talk about current water activities and problems. Cochran also said some of the ideas being been thrown around are adding a water park, additional pools, and developing recreational activities along the Guadalupe such as kayaking or boat rides.
Currently the main source of water recreation is the Gary Moses Pool which was built back in the 1970s. The forum will take place Thursday February 7th at 6 p.m. at the Community Center.
