VC’s Emergency Alert System

Back in 2011 a man walked onto the campus of Victoria College and fired several shots. This week, the college will be testing its own emergency alert system, something it does every semester to help with the safety of its students.

This week Victoria College students, faculty and staff will be getting a text message or email in the name of safety. Thursday afternoon VC will be testing its emergency alert system. Keith Blundell with VC said students can receive the alerts through cell phone, home phone or email. Blundell also stated that VC uses the alerts for weather emergencies, closings and the possibility of a campus shooting. To be part of Thursday’s alert, the school needs correct and up to date contact information for students. To update yours, visit the schools website, or call the school to make sure you get notified on Thursday and in the event of a future emergency.
