Super Bowl DWI
You might be stocking up on soda for the Super Bowl this Sunday, but a stronger kind of drink is being talked about in anticipation of game day: alcohol. If you're planning on knocking back a few during the big game beware, police will be on the lookout for drunk drivers. Local authorities said they’re planning on increasing patrols.
This Sunday the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers will be going head to head in Super Bowl 47. Traditionally many will celebrate the event with food, friends and alcohol, but before part taking in the festivities the Victoria police are asking you to plan ahead, because if you are caught drinking and driving you will be facing heavy consequences. Sargent Eline Moya asked for citizens to please designate a driver to avoid potentially harming yourself or others on the roadway. She is also urging drivers to report any suspicious drivers who appear to be driving under the influence. Victoria police are taking a zero tolerance stance, and those caught in the act will be facing jail time. First time DWI offenders could face a fine up to $2000, lose their driver's license for as long as a year and be sentenced to 180 days in jail.
