Red Cross Needs Help
The Red Cross dedicates all of its time and money to helping victims of disasters but what happens if disaster strikes and there's no one there to help? Needing help themselves the Red Cross in Jackson County is sending out an S.O.S. to get out the word about the need for volunteers.
Volunteering with the American Red Cross is one thing Lori McLennan said she will never give up but in Jackson County there are only two trained disaster action team volunteers who can help. McLennan said they need volunteers in two main areas: shelter training and disaster action team. Linda May with the Red Cross said the free training you receive as a volunteer will help you in more than just disasters. May said the reason they're lacking in volunteers is because they just haven't seen many applicants.
If you would like to become a volunteer, you can contact Linda may at the Crossroad's Chapter of the Red Cross at 361-573-2671. All the training you receive will be free, and will only cost you time.
