Railroad Quiet Zone Project
The city is closer to making a major roadway safer for Victoria.
Ben Wilson between Houston Highway and East Rio Grande Street will be reduced to two lanes for construction of a raised center median. The median will be approximately one-hundred feet and lay both sides of the railroad tracks. City officials said it’s all in an effort to prevent cars and people from crossing the tracks when the arms are down. The construction is part of the railroad quiet zones project and is expected to take a month.
