New Norovirus

As the number of seasonal flu cases drop another flu is on the rise. According to the CDC, a new strain of the norovirus or stomach bug from Australia is very contagious.

The bug is transmitted by eating or drinking liquids contaminated with the virus, touching surfaces of objects with the bug and then putting your fingers in your mouth, or having contact with someone who is infected. Nurse practitioner, J.D. Gray with Crossroads Health Center said the symptoms are similar to the flu. The CDC stated that the best way to prevent the virus is by washing your hands often, rinsing your fruits and vegetables, cleaning surfaces, and washing laundry and when you’re sick, don't prepare food or care for others.
