One man's fight for life has led to a community-wide effort to beat out cancer.
When Larry Carter beat lung cancer for the second time more than twenty years ago, he never thought he'd have to do it again.
That is until last year when Carter was diagnosed a third time with a malignant tumor in his thigh that led to cancer in both of his lungs. Since then, Carter has been receiving chemotherapy in an attempt to fight the cancer off for good.
In order to help pay for his medical expenses, the Cuero community came together Saturday for the Fight the Fight for Cancer Benefit.
A bake sale, 5k run and softball tournament kicked off the benefit, which also included a silent auction and hamburger luncheon.
