When couples decide to call it quits, dealing with the loss of a relationship is hard enough, much less having to deal with the financial burden comes with it. This is why many couples are now ditching the lawyers and attempting to represent themselves, but that can often bring about even more pain. Sandra McKenzie, an attorney at law said hiring an attorney has become too expensive for many couples, so they chose to self-represent. The news forms offer guidance through the divorce process and couples can obtain the forms online for free. However, McKenzie said in certain cases, an attorney needs to be present. McKenzie added that as of February first, the forms have become available online are free, the only expense that will come out of your pocket will be the court filing fee. She said the divorce should not cost more than five hundred dollars.
