Former CHS Employee Faces Child Sex Charges
A former Calhoun County teacher and coach is accused of having an improper relationship with a student.
On February 12th, 28-year-old Eric Shelton was arrested in Brazoria County on two counts of sexual assault of a child and two counts of committing an improper, educator-student relationship. Shelton faces another count of attempting to commit an improper relationship. Shelton was a teacher and coach at Sweeny high school at the time of the allegations.
Sweeny ISD said he's been on administrative leave since December. Shelton began working as an assistant basketball coach and teacher at Calhoun high school in 2008, but resigned from his position in 2011. Shelton posted a one-hundred thousand dollar bond last week and was released from jail. There is no word on his next court date.
