Ever thought about what it takes to be a hero? Well, we could have a couple more of them in Victoria Thursday, after college and high school students got an up close and personal glimpse at what it's like to be a firefighter.
The Victoria Fire Department in collaboration with the Victoria College held its 3rd annual Fire Academy Field Day. About 17 students attended the five-hour crash course. Students got the chance to tour a fire station, see an auto-extrication demo, and ladder truck operation. The goal of the session was to recruit potential fire fighters locally.
