DeWitt is on the Lookout for Car Thieves

A recent rash of stolen cars in DeWitt County has authorities looking for car thieves. Within the last six months more than five trucks of a certain type have been stolen and law enforcement said these thefts aren't your average petty crime, as the vehicles are being used for much more than driving.

Maleeha Kamal spent the day in Cuero looking into the story.

DeWitt County law enforcement could use the public's help. Right now their number one focus is finding the people responsible for a series of car theft which they believe is connected to a drug and human trafficking ring.  Within this past month, a vehicle was stolen and according to law enforcements on average one vehicle a month a month goes missing.
Officials said the way for residents and companies to protect themselves from these thieves is to no leave anything of value in their vehicles.

If you have any information regarding these stolen vehicles authorities are urging you to call law enforcements.
