D.P.S. Drug Bust

A routine traffic stop turns into a drug bust as D.P.S. seized one of the biggest loads of marijuana Victoria has seen in quite some time.

On Friday morning, troopers stopped on a truck traffic semi-trailer on U.S. highway 59 near the Bloomington highway. After observing suspicious activity, the trooper received verbal consent to search the trailer and hidden among a load of grapefruit, the trooper discovered nearly two-thousand pounds of marijuana. According to DPS, the 122 bundles total more than a-million-dollars. DPS said the truck trailer was travelling to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania from Mission, Texas.

Trooper Gerald Bryant said the driver of the truck, 38-year-old Alexander Navarro was arrested with first degree felony possession of marijuana, and is currently being held at the Victoria County Jail, pending a 250-thousand dollar bond.
