Citizens New System for Stroke Patients
Citizens Medical Center has teamed up with Memorial Hermann out of Houston to give Victoria 24-7 access to stroke specialists. The new technology will allow Victoria residents who may be suffering from a stroke to be diagnosed within a matter of minutes via video. Its new technology that's taking the way doctors will see you to a whole new level. Citizens Medical Center said they see anywhere from 18 to 20 stroke patients every month, but don't always have a neurologist on staff to diagnose them. Through a new partnership with Memorial Hermann hospital in the Texas Medical Center, doctors in Victoria will now be able to 24-7 access to treating stroke patients. The program is made possible through a 12-thousand dollar teleconferencing system that allows physicians here to consult with stroke specialists in Houston. Neurologists use the video technology to diagnose patients in a matter of minutes. Doctors said this new technology prevents patients from driving to Houston for treatment, and is a life saver in a recovery.
