Airline Services
They've only been flying through Victoria skies for 5 months but already the new Sun Airline has landed a series of complaints from traveler. Missed flights & connections to maintenance issues delaying takeoff has some travelers flying off the handle and looking for answers.
Victoria had been without a commercial air service since the departure of Colgan Air, which declared bankruptcy in May and packed up in July. Sun Air put Victoria travelers back on the plane in October and passengers were flying high but the excitement would soon fade. Several frequent flyers have experienced the same inconveniences and have had to pay their own way home. Victoria Regional Airport manger Jason Milewski did not want to comment on camera but said they only have one aircraft going out at a time and the other is in for inspection so when something goes wrong flights have to be cancelled. He’s said they had 20 maintenance related cancellations in December but have seen a positive trend with reliability with only 8 in January, but they still don't feel the airline is at an acceptable level. He said the airport is working with Sun Air to address travelers concerns and holding the airline accountable for controllable cancellations. Airport officials said Sun Air is also working to get a 3rd air craft to use as a backup plane which would help eliminate maintenance delays. They are waiting for FAA to inspect it, and hope to get it to Victoria as soon as possible.
