Willoughby’s Wife Speaks Out
Wednesday night the wife of David Willoughby is breaking her silence, and talking to News Center 25 about shocking new revelations into her husband mysterious death. Willoughby was found at the bottom of the Guadalupe near Tivoli last July but new autopsy results have police moving away from a possible suicide in the case. For Willoughby's family though they're simply looking for closure.
Memories are all that’s left of David Willoughby. Too distraught to appear on camera, after learning of the newest details into his death, his wife Charlene Willoughby describes him as a good person and a giving man. Earlier this week, Willoughby’s autopsy results showed a high dose of the sleeping aid Ambien in his system, but Charlene said her husband had not taken the drug in a while. Port Lavaca police said the evidence so far doesn't point to Willoughby taking his own life, which is something Charlene knows her husband wouldn't do. As she continues to search for answers of what happened in David’s death, she's left with a loss that came too soon, and memories that will have to last the rest of her life.
Wednesday night, Port Lavaca police are still investigating the case, and said they do have "persons of interest" but haven't ruled out a possible suicide in the case. Police said they have ruled out a car accident since DPS and independent investigators cannot reproduce an accident.
