Warrant Roundup
Calhoun County is having a roundup and not the good kind. Port Lavaca Police are executing hundreds of search warrants in their area, many that are several years old. It's called the Warrant Roundup and its part of a statewide program put in place to help close old cases.
If you've been caught breaking the law in Calhoun County and haven’t fessed up, starting Saturday, you could be forced to. Police said as many as 1800 warrants are out in Port Lavaca and if you don't take care of yours, being put in jail could happen to you. However, for anyone who isn’t a big fan of bars, there's still something you can do. Police said anyone who is arrested during the roundup will go straight to jail, which could add on even more fees. If you or someone you know has a warrant out, Saturday is the last day to get it taken care of peacefully. Last year, Port Lavaca Police said they arrested around eighty people.
