VICTORIA -- A Victoria man is in custody after taking police on a chase Sunday night.

The chase began around 7:00p.m. Sunday when an officer recognized a man he knew had a parole warrant out.

The officer tried to stop the man, 24-year-old Ernest Macias of Victoria, but he took off on foot.

Less than thirty minutes later, officers found Macias hiding in a neighbors back yard in the 1500 block of Harry Street. They held him at gunpoint and then took him into custody.

Macias had a parole warrant out for possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was taken to Citizens Medical Center to be checked out for some minor injuries he sustained from running through fences.

After that, he will be taken to Victoria County Sheriff’s Office and will be charged with evading on foot.
