VICTORIA -- On Thursday, University of Houston President Renu Khator met with more University of Houston-Victoria faculty members to talk about the university’s upcoming changes.

Khator said that during the upcoming transition no faculty contracts will be violated and assured staff at UHV that the university will have the adequate funds to carry out its mission of what she calls becoming a “destination university” in the city of Victoria.

On Monday, University of Houston’s board of regents decided it was going to strip UHV’s School of Nursing from the Sugar Land campus and move it to the UH main campus.

A day later, on Tuesday, University of Houston officials announced that UHV President Phil Castille had resigned after only three years on the job. Castille’s resignation came after the UHV’s faculty senate ruled on a vote of “no confidence” at their meeting on Friday.
