INDIANOLA -- One local school did its part to make our beaches a better place to visit.

Several students from Bloomington Middle School woke up early to help clean our local beaches, as part of the 28th Annual Adopt-A-Beach Spring Clean-up, a yearly event that helps clear up more than 30 beaches along the Texas gulf coast, three of which are in the crossroads.

Along with the students, several girl scouts, Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School Students and many local residents joined in to clean up beaches in Indianola, Port O’Connor and Magnolia Beach.

Since 1986, Texas Adopt-A-Beach volunteers have picked up over 8,000 tons of trash off Texas beaches.
