Steel Plant Announcement
Friday night a new plant is being built in south Texas and it’s promising high paying jobs for hundreds of Crossroads workers. The healthy regional economy is continuing to attract new businesses into the area and Friday, one local county celebrated the news of a major manufacturing facility that promises to keep the economy going strong. Governor Rick Perry and other state and worldwide business leaders were there for the big announcement and so were we.
Matagorda County received some stellar economic news that promises to bring at least 600 hundred high salaried jobs to the area. Luxembourg based oil field pipe manufacturer Tenaris, plans to make south Texas home to one of its factories. Texas Governor Rick Perry, Tenaris C.E.O. Paulo Rocca, and others made the trip to Matagorda County to announce the planned construction of a one point five billion dollar seamless pipe facility. Governor Perry pointed to the close proximity of Bay City to Tenaris's North American headquarters in Houston, the nearby Eagle Ford Shale oil reserve, the areas skilled workforce, and the states ideal business environment as the main factors that swayed Tenaris to locate here.
Seamless pipe is in high demand throughout the oil field industry. The promise of jobs and high paying jobs at that has many in this small south Texas City already excited for the future. The expected completion date is 2016. According to the Tenaris C.E.O., the average salaries at the plant will be about 60-thousand dollars per year.
