Recycling Center Changes
Time is becoming an obstacle for recyclers in Victoria. The days that you can go to the city's recycle center on George Street to dispose of those big, bulky recyclables have been cut.
According to Darryl Lesak with Victoria Environmental Services, since February of 2012 the recycling center has been open every Saturday. However they have noticed a significant drop in the number of people using the center. Lesak said the recycling center is mainly used by people with items too big to fit in their green recycling containers. The changes took effect February 2nd, and will cut down on costs by reducing the number of days the center has to be staffed. Despite these changes at the recycling center, the Monday through Friday curb side recycle pickup will continue as usual. A reminder: the Saturday service is only for Victoria residents and not businesses.
