Navarro’s Funeral

The one fire this week that turned tragic was remembered by the community Friday.

Friday morning, funeral services were held for Orlando Navarro, the 12-year-old middle schooler who died when his house burn down Saturday. Family, friends, and city officials gathered at Our Lady of Sorrows Church to said their goodbyes. Father Stan Deboe said in addition to service the church did something special for Orlando Navarro by planting a plant in their garden. In the two years that the garden has been in existence only four plants have been planted, one for each who were members of the congregation. Adam Garcia with the Victoria police said a child’s death especially in this manner is very rare. Over two dozen law enforcements attended the funeral service and afterwards led Orlando to his final resting place in Resurrection Cemetery.

Orlando's family still needs your help. They lost everything in Saturday house fire and unfortunately did not have homeowner insurance. If you would like to make a donation of some sort call Rosa Garza (361) 652-5743 or if you would like to make donation there is an account set up at Prosperity Bank under the name Tommi Turrubiartes.
