Earlier this morning, a Dewitt county man brought what is believed to be a centuries old mortar round to the Victoria county sheriffs office. Sheriffs immediately evacuated the building and shut down surrounding roads. The device was moved to the sheriff's shooting range by ATF, and is currently awaiting investigation by the Corpus Christi bomb squad. The round is believed to be active, but is no longer believed to be a threat. We will have more information for you as it becomes available.
