A top Gonzales school official is under some heat tonight, after being accused of drinking, driving, and then crashing his car here in Victoria. The principle of Gonzales high school, Doctor Christopher Morrow, is facing DWI charges after the two vehicle wreck on Main Street and Mockingbird last week.
The accident happened just before Super Bowl weekend on Friday February 1st on the 4300 block of North Main Street near Mockingbird in Victoria. Police said it happened around 6:30 pm when Morrows silver Hyundai struck a Dodge pickup from behind knocking the truck off its axle and causing damage to the front of his car. Victoria police said Morrow was traveling south in the northbound lane when he struck the truck. Gonzales’ Superintendent Dr. Kim Strozier said it's the districts practice not to comment on employee issues that are not public but said during this difficult and unfortunate time their priority is to focus on the students and their needs. Victoria police stated that Morrow has since been released from jail. If convicted Morrow could face up to a 2-thousand dollar fine, 180 days in jail, and possible have his license suspended.
