DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office Upgrade
Times are changing in DeWitt County, and for the better. The Sheriff’s Office there has started using a new communication system that allows them to get to you faster, improving not only their response times, but your safety.
The Dewitt County Sheriff’s Office has a new tool to assist them in fighting crime. Last month they started using a mobile digital information system. Sargent Carl Bowen said it’s used by sheriff’s deputies on their vehicle computers and by dispatch back at the station. Bowen said over the past year dispatchers call volume has increased by 60%. The mobile digital information system allows patrol men to alleviate that burden and from his office computer Bowen can keep track of the deputies and where they are and what they are reporting on. He said it’s already proven to be effective. Sargent Bowers added that this also cuts down on time as dispatch does not have to focus on smaller calls that the patrol men can do on their own, and can focus on more pressing emergencies.
