Cuero Child Abducted and Returned

A truck driver rescued an eight-month-old Cuero boy who was abducted Thursday morning.

At approximately 9:00 am, Cuero police department was called to the 400 block of King Street for a possible burglary and child abduction.  Police said 35-year-old Jessica Barraza took the 8 month old baby from his home. Barraza is related to a former boyfriend of the baby's mom.  The investigation led to the issuance of an Amber Alert, which was luckily seen by a truck driver on his smart phone while traveling on U.S. 181 in Bee County.

The trucker was able to get the offender vehicle pulled over and called 911. The 8-month-old child was found to be in good condition with no injuries and has been reunited with its parents. Barraza now faces charges of kidnapping, and burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony.  She remains in the DeWitt County jail Friday night on a 70-thousand dollar bond.
