Cotton Crops

A number of farmers are looking to skies waiting for the next round of abundant rain to hit the area. Cotton farmers in particular need a good soaking.

They're preparing to plant their crops in the next month. Fewer Texas farmers are planting cotton; instead they are focusing on planting grains which could make them more money. The USDA predicts cotton planting could drop by nearly 20% this year, as farmers look to more cash crops. Less cotton could also mean more for consumers like spending more money on t-shirts, socks and jeans. Higher cotton prices could put pressure retailers to raise the price on denim too.
