Boat Safety

Larry Urban's death is throwing boat safety into the spotlight Tuesday night.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff George Aleman, his death could have been avoided had he been wearing a life jacket. He said it’s not a law in Texas to wear one but it’s advisable and that if you're out on a boat, don't speed. Aleman also said parts of the Guadalupe River are very muddy and murky so even if you are able to swim you could get pulled under the water and drown.
