For more than 15 years Chris Mapp has owned one of the most popular boat stores in Port O'Connor but by this time next year he is hoping to be in the U.S. Senate.

"I have lived my life as a Texan. I have stood on the sidelines and watch elected leaders fail us repeatedly time after time,” Mapp said.

Before Mapp can make it to Capitol Hill, he will have to face twice elected US.Senator John Cornyn in Republican primaries in March. Senator Cornyn who has been seen by many as a powerhouse, has been credited with tackling key issues like border security, public safety and the affordable care act.

"We have spent years warning that Obama care would force many Americans to lose their existing coverage and we spent years warning that the law itself would prove to be unworkable. Now it appears that many of those warnings have come true,” Cornyn said.

Mapp has practically no experience in politics but said he has an agenda.

"Our deficit is the number one issue facing this country. The unaffordable healthcare act is the second issue facing this country. If I am elected we are going to fight to get each and everyone one of these back into order,” Cornyn said.
but does he have a chance against powerhouse John Cornyn?

"What are my chances? Well my chances are very slim but let’s let the people of Texas decide if they like my message and what I have to say,” Mapp said.
