Rissa joined the Newscenter 25 Team in November of 2011.
A true jack of all trades, her news career began as a reporter, anchor, interim News Director and everything in between at the NBC affiliate in Eureka, CA. While the North Coast weather wasn't her favorite, she made many wonderful friends there and still speaks with many of them today.
A Northern California native, she decided to move back down to San Francisco to pursue her love of politics, working on the Lieutenant Governor race for the former Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, and even working with the White House whenever the President himself would come to town – yes, she has Secret Service Clearance.
Although politics was fascinating, she missed the fast-paced lifestyle and heart of local news and had always heard wonderful things about the great state of Texas from some of her best friends in college who grew up there.
Rissa attended Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she received a Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Communications.
In college, she reported for the number one collegiate newscast in the nation, Cronkite NewsWatch. She also interned for CBS at KPHO in Phoenix.
After spending most of her life on the West Coast, Rissa is delighted to be in the Southwest and has already felt the warm southern hospitality she often hears about. She is thrilled to be in Victoria and hopes to become a part of the community. During her spare time, Rissa enjoys sports, classic movies, and spending time with her family and friends all over the country. You might find her at Starbucks because she can't live without her daily coffee!
